Kanadčan Esposito, tudi večkratni dobitnik nagrade vezina za najboljšega vratarja lige, se je zadnja leta boril z rakom trebušne slinavke. "Blackhawks in liga NHL sta izgubila legendo," je dejal predsednik ekipe iz Chicaga, Rocky Wirtz.
"Liga NHL, Chicago Blackhawks in mesto Chicago smo izgubili ljubljenega člana naše hokejske družine. Vse od njegovega prihoda v vetrovno mesto v poznih 60-ih letih prejšnjega stoletja in z izjemno barvito kariero, v kateri je več kot desetletje igral za Chicago, je Tony pustil neizbrisen pečat.
