Košarkarski superzverzdnik Luka Dončić je sinoči odigral eno najbolj osupljivih in dih jemajočih tekem v zgodovini severnoameriške košarkarske lige.
Petindvajsetletni slovenski reprezentant je ob zmagi svojega moštva Dallas Mavericks nad Atlanto Hawks (148:143) zabeležil 73 točk (25/33 met iz igre, 8/13 za tri točke, 15/16 prosti meti), deset skokov in sedem podaj.
Prvi zvezdnik Dallasa se je s tem razveselil novega osebnega in klubskega rekorda po številu doseženih točk na eni tekmi ter se podpisal pod četrti najboljši strelski večer vseh časov. Več košev sta na eni tekmi dosegla samo Wilt Chamberlain (100 in 78 točk) in Kobe Bryant (81 točk), poleg Dončića pa sta jih po 73 v enem večeru zbrala še Chamberlain (dvakrat) in David Thompson.
Šefi košarkarske ekipe iz Georgie so v kasnejših medijskih nastopih vneto zagovarjali svojo odločitev in izpostavljali dejstvo, da je bil Young boljša dopolnitev igralskega kadra. Čeprav to do neke mere celo drži, pa se navijači ne morejo znebiti občutka, da bi bila ekipa z Dončićem krepko močnejša.
Čeprav se je tudi Young uveljavil kot eden najboljših košarkarjev v ligi, pa njegov učinek še zdaleč ni primerljiv z Dončićevim. Tega se dobro zavedajo tudi privrženci sokolov, ki kadrovskega 'kiksa' najbrž še dolgo ne bodo preboleli.
